2009 nscaa algarve cup trip

As the Chair of the NSCAA Women’s Committee, I am proud to annouce that the third annual NSCAA Algarve Cup trip has officially begun. :-)

The trip was organized by Women’s Committee members: Boston Breakers Assistant Coach Lisa Cole, NSCAA Board of Directors member Marti Coan, Former USWNT Head Coach April Heinrichs, and renowned sports psychologist Dr. Colleen Hacker. During these 10 days, they will take participants behind-the-scenes at one of the world’s most distinguished sporting events – The Algarve Cup. No where else can anybody get this kind of access.

The photo above is from the Germany vs. China match. Click for 2009 Photos (I’m uploading them as the participants email them over). For more information about the NSCAA Algarve Cup Trip, check out the NSCAA Women’s Committee homepage. For details about the Algarve Cup in general, visit U.S. Soccer.

Here’s an update by Marti Coan: “First day was a bit cold, nice when the sun was out but cold when the wind picked up. First we watched Germany beat China, score was 3 – 0, and China was a man down when we left to see the U.S. vs. Iceland game. Great to see some familiar faces on the field at the U.S. game. Exciting getting to know the newer ones, learn their body stance, agility and skills. Iceland was giving it all they had but couldn’t hold them. Natasha Kai was very determined and got the finish! Then we went on to the Portugal vs. Wales game. I believe it was 3- 1 to the host country. More to follow!”

Check back at Soccer Science for updates as I receive them. I’ll also post them to http://www.NSCAA.com/wc.php. Go USA!
