The exterior of our office building was completed today. Here, Jim Willett (left, one of our owners) is helping his crew put up the Chicago Red Stars badge.

Today has been an exciting day of growth for us – both physically and virtually. Just as the external decor is being competed on the Red Stars Annex outside of Toyota Park, the WPS FanZone is nearly complete and ready to launch.

I’ve been thinking a lot about how exactly to maximize this online community, and the more I discover about the WPS FanZone and what we can do in here, the better it becomes. From creating an interactive chatroom, to integrating videos and uploading photos, this site is incredible! I hope the players and fans get as much out of this as I believe they can. If you do cool stuff on here, or find new ways to use social media to promote women’s soccer, I’m all ears – drop us a Skype or an AIM at ChicagoRedStars.

On a personal note, I’ll still be keeping my own blog at Soccer Science (www.amandavandervort.com) and RSS the posts into this page. However, this WPS blog will be dedicated to all things Chicago Red Stars. As the Director of Online Marketing, I’m planning to launch all kinds of really cool things here and you can count on me to write about them on this page and link to everything I can.

From the office, we’ve already started a Facebook page and a MySpace page and grew our fans exponentially in the first week (not that I’m competitive or anything, but we’ve already overtaken most other teams’ online fan numbers in Facebook).

I’m looking forward to the growth and development of Women’s Professional Soccer and can’t wait to hear from everybody out there who wants to see it succeed :-)
