A Photo Is Worth A Thousand Words: Chicago WPS Head Coach Emma Hayes at Toyota Park Stadium

May 20, 2008

I was in the Windy City this weekend for Emma Hayes’ announcement and press conference. On Saturday night, we went to the Chicago Fire game at Toyota Park. The whole time I was there, I kept thinking what an incredible opportunity this facility will provide in 2009 as the Chicago Women’s Professional Soccer Team‘s home stadium.

Banner of Peter Wilt, Chicago WPS President, draped over the Chicago Section 8 Supporter’s Section on the North End of the stadium. It reads, “The First Fan.” Peter was the first GM of the Chicago Fire and is well-known as a fan-friendly soccer businessman. Check out my April 18th interview with Peter here.

Here’s a look at the pitch late into the second half. It was raining on and off throughout the game, but the fans stayed. They’re die-hard supporters in Chicago!
